METCALFE
Lister Wasington Metcalfe and his wife, Elizabeth, arrived in New Orleans in the late 1840s, their plan being a new life in Wisconsin. At some point after starting their journey, Elizabeth died and Lister returned to England. He was, however, to try once again some years later, although which route he took is not yet known.
REDHEAD
Daniel Henry Redhead was born in 1837 in New Orleans only a short time after his parents had arrived from England. Their initial destination was said to have been Chicago, but plans were changed. The death of Daniel’s father meant a return to England to family in Northamptonshire was necessary.
